Ace Hotel New York Lobby Nights, 2013—2019
While at Ace Hotel, one of my roles was to program the lobby DJs 5–7 nights per week. This was already in place, it had been fully developed and initially programmed by Greg Bresnitz. I chimed in on flyer design, but that was mostly handled by Ace’s in house creative team at Atelier Ace.
The bulk of my programming was between 2013–2016. Usually, an individual DJ or partner would have a month-long weekly residency—so like, a different employee from X record store, four Thursdays in a row or whatever. As my job got increasingly busy with other programs, I brought in additional curators like Lily Hoang (DJ Lily Vanilli) and JD Samson. Before leaving Ace in 2019, I set up Paul and Barbie from Love Injection to take over. So a mix of curating, and then curating curators.
